What you'll be doing

Assist with treatment order by physician as supervise by physician or registered nurse. Perform select clinical duty. Interview patient, measure vital sign and record information on patient chart. Prepare treatment room for examination of patient. Perform basic clerical duty including answer the phone, maintain record and fill information. Perform basic material management function to include order and stock of supply. Assist with maintain a clean and orderly environment. Relay prescription information to pharmacy as directed by the physician. Collect, report and document patient data including patient chief complaint, height, weight, head circumference, current medication, oximetry level, patient comfort level and specimen for diagnostic study. Perform selected assign clinical duty including prepare patient for examination and/or treatment, assist the RN, LVN and/or provider as directed, set up exam or procedure room, clean and sterilization of instrument, maintain the medication sample inventory, communicate with patient to relay information as directed by the provider, assist with minor surgery utilize aseptic technique, application of minor dressing and splint as directed by the provider. Perform applicable task including urinary catheterization, electronic monitor observation, removal of staple and simple suture and removal of peripheral IV catheter. Perform limited diagnostic test including EKG, phlebotomy and laboratory test after complete network competency. Participate in obtain timely referral authorization from insurance carrier and relay of such authorization to the patient and provider. Stay abreast of current insurance requirement. Perform other duty as assigned.

What your background should be

One year of experience in a related direct patient care position is preferred. Current basic life support for healthcare providers (BLS-HCP) course completion card from the American heart association is required. Current medical assistant certification from the national center for competency testing (NCCT), national association for health professionals (NAHP), American association of medical assistants (AAMA), American medical technologists (AMT) or NHA is required.

Required Schooling / Training

High school diploma or equivalent is required.
