What you'll be doing

The certified nurse assistant responds to patient calls, anticipates patient needs, and assures patient safety and comfort through regular rounds, environmental maintenance, and other appropriate safety measures. The candidate records vital signs, intake, and output when requested into the patient record and computer. Reports any changes observed in the condition or behavior of patients and any unusual incidents/problems. S/he performs nursing procedures, which do not require the skill/knowledge or judgment of a licensed professional and, which may be safely delegated in accordance with nursing policies and procedures. Prepares and assists patients with meals. S/he feeds patients as directed. The incumbent distributes nourishments and drinking water. The applicant assures patient privacy while providing personal and routine care. Establishes and maintains professional interpersonal relationships with patients, visitors, and other hospital personnel while assuring confidentiality of patient information. This position offers to assist co-workers and all team members to complete work assignments. Participates in patient care conferences and contributes to planning patient care. S/he demonstrates a commitment to service, organization values, and professionalism through appropriate conduct and demeanor at all times. Maintains confidentiality and protects sensitive data at all times. Adheres to organizational and department specific safety standards and guidelines. Works collaboratively and supports efforts of team members. Demonstrates exceptional customer service and interacts effectively with physicians, patients, residents, visitors, staff and the broader health care community. What your background should be

Six months of experience in an acute care hospital or skilled care facility in the acute care area preferred. The candidate must be at least 16 years of age. Must have successfully completed the 75 hours state approved course for nursing assistant if hired into the nursing assistant position after april 30, 1998. Nurse assistant must be on the nurse aide registry of the state in which work if hired into the nursing assistant position after april 30, 1998. Bls certificate is required upon hire. Acceptable credentialing bodies and certificates include the following: american red cross: cpr/aed for the professional rescuer, american safety, and health institute: cpr, pro, must say professional level-with aed, and american heart association: basic life support for healthcare provider (bls hcp). S/he should have the ability to organize and prioritize work. Job requires individual and group interaction. This job requires continuous verbal communication skills, frequent reading skills, written communication skills, and computer skills.
