What you'll be doing

Greets, instructs & communicates to all patients in a courteous and professional manner. Clearly communicates patient collection instructions. Demonstrates knowledge of specimen collection processes. Successfully completes the required laboratory orientation, training, competencies & on-going education as assigned. Follows established procedures for patient identification, specimen collection & labeling. Receives & processes specimens received from patients & other departments. Assesses specimen integrity & prepares, packages & arranges for transport of specimens as required. Processes specimens to include racking, creating work lists & loading instruments. Performs maintenance on equipment & is responsible for equipment startup & shutdown as assigned. Answers & assists routine telephone inquiries in a courteous & professional manner.

What your background should be

A minimum six months of concentrated phlebotomy experience in the three years may be substituted for the phlebotomy training program. Completion of an accredited phlebotomy training program & two years of previous concentrated phlebotomy experience.

Required Schooling / Training

High school graduation.
