What you'll be doing

Supports the designated leader utilizing systematic approaches to enhance the quality and effectiveness of nursing practice, nursing service administration and delivery of care in the department. Engages staff and provides leadership in the professional practice setting and nursing profession to serve as an effective change agent, maintains a healthy work environment, and promotes innovation in care delivery. Coaches and counsels team members and administers discipline. Assists leadership with interviews, selection, and supervision of nursing team members in the department. Rounds on patients, team members, and physicians at prescribed frequencies to gain insight into patient care, team member, and physician satisfaction and appropriateness of patient care and department operations. Assists in development of policies, procedures and standards integrating evidence based practice and nursing research. Performs nursing care, assists with treatments, therapies, procedures, and administers medications as necessary. Coordinates staffing for the current and upcoming shifts through continuous assessment of volume and acuity needs utilizing resources available to assist in provision of appropriate staffing resources.

What your background should be

Current licensure to practice as a registered nurse or temporary license as a registered nurse practitioner in the state of North Carolina or appropriate compact state if legal residency is not in the state of North Carolina required. 2 years nursing experience preferred. Appropriate professional certification (within 2 years if not currently certified) required. Basic life support for healthcare provider (BLS HCP) from AHA required. Previous management experience preferred.

Required Schooling / Training

Bachelors degree in nursing required.
