What you'll be doing

Manages, develops and coaches the coding auditors, motivating and supporting others in overcoming barriers to understanding oversees the coding quality review program, providing guidance and assistance to the reviewers, sustaining an outstanding organizational average accuracy rate, while maintaining adherence to corporate compliance. Ensures standardized scoring and reporting methodology and consistent evaluation of coding accuracy. Manages all audit work related to coding validation audits as well as audits performed by any other entity, creating compelling responses to all DRG discrepancies by providing information from the clinical record and referencing coding rules and guidelines. Works in conjunction with the coding director and the operational managers to provide in services and continuing education to the coding staff, physicians, and clinical departments, providing highly complex information to audiences with a varied level of understanding in an effort to ensure optional reimbursement, adherence to regulatory guidelines as well as complete/accurate documentation. Conducts continual risk assessments of potential and detected compliance deficiencies. Serves as subject matter expert and authoritative resource on interpretation and application of coding rules and regulations.

What your background should be

Three to five years of coding experience in an acute-care hospital with cases involving a more complex level of coding. Progressive professional growth leadership skills. Excellent communication skills. Ability to educate effectively previous coding management experience (preferred).
