Commercial Underwriting Area Manager

What you'll be doing: The client company is seeking a commercial underwriting area manager. The candidate manages commercial lines underwriting area and related support functions. Provides leadership and technical support through management of people, systems, and processes. Establishes and maintains underwriting integrity and standards for risk selection and compliance with regulatory agencies to meet corporate, divisional and departmental goals. Responsible for communications and interactions with sales management and the field force in the designated geographic area regarding commercial operations underwriting and premium audit strategies, objectives, procedures and changes that will impact the field. Maintains positive relationships with sales management to resolve problems and improve results in the commercial lines product lines. Analyzes reports (AORs, QORs, profit results, industry trends, division trends) and works with the commercial operations director to develop action plans based on trends to achieve desired results. Works with the quality assurance manager to implement the action plans. Supports activities related to state business plans and division profit plans. Establishes, communicates, and implements departmental plans, objectives, and strategies and participates as a member of the management team. Manages direct reports, systems, and projects to achieve unit goals in accordance with company policies and practices.

What your background should be: Demonstrated experience in managing or leading people. Extensive knowledge of commercial lines policies, underwriting philosophy, and procedures gained through progressive underwriting, product management, premium audit, or claim experience. This position requires travel up to 25% of the time.
