What you'll be doing
- Responsibilities of the Communications Specialist include diagnose faulty equipment by using prescribed procedures, Built In Test Equipment (BIT), Special and General Purpose Electronic Test Equipment (SPETE/GPETE) as required. Maintain signal quality, diagnose faulty equipment by using prescribed procedures, and test equipment. Assembly, inspect, service, remove/replace faulty assemblies or chassis mounted components. Participates in special projects as required. Also performs and documents preventive maintenance activities, provide inputs to weekly and monthly status reports, input trouble tickets and track ticket status to resolution, assist with the implementation of Field Change Notices (FCNs), system patching and upgrades and technology insertion/technology refresh.
What your background should be
- 8 to 10 years of directly related experience supporting engineering operations. Must have 5 years experience maintaining and repairing satellite communications equipment. Experience desired in one or more of the following: ground mobile radios and the following equipment; INMARSAT, AN/USC 60A Satellite communications, H3L, Hawkeye III, ANC/USC 68 SWE Dish, GBS, PROMINA 200/800, Defense Red Switch communications, AN/PRC 117(C) and the Joint Deployable Intelligence Support System. Must have at a minimum an active Secret security clearance. Top secret may be required. Have to be knowledgeable of workplace safety rules and standards and be prepared to comply during all phases of operation and be specifically knowledgeable of safety considerations for operating in the proximity of satellite and radio transmission equipment. Extended CONUS/OCONUS travel may be required.
Required Schooling / Training
- Associates degree in a related technical discipline or the equivalent combination of education, technical certifications or training or work experience.
