What you'll be doing
- Provides leadership for the direction of the Magnet Program; its curriculum, its staffing and its relationships both inside and outside the district. Supervises the planning, implementation and the modification of the program instructional program. Assists in selecting, training and supervising all academy personnel. Provides the leadership role in working with the Magnet Advisory Board. Identifies, investigates and pursues possible sources of financial and equipment support(foundations, government, business, etc.). Prepares or supervises preparation of brochures, television spots and other promotional products to publicize the program. Works with the district legislative liaison to secure favorable legislation. Works with the school principal and the Area Superintendent, as needed, to develop relationships in such areas as the hiring and evaluation of shared staff, the maintenance of students records, the reporting of student progress, student discipline, student counseling, course offerings and course scheduling. Interprets central administration directives, regulations and programs to students, staff and community. Supports appropriate research and evaluation activities. Participates in the preparation of the Magnet Program budget. Initiates or approves all expenditures for supplies, material and equipment related to the Magnet Program.
What your background should be
- Minimum of three years of successful teaching and three years of successful managerial or administrative experience. Must have administrative or supervisory certification. Must be able to efficiently organize and manage educational programs, convey enthusiasm and work cooperatively with other administrators in reaching joint goals. Incumbent must also be able to work effectively with persons from a wide variety of backgrounds and have a broad knowledge and understanding of the social, political, historical, scientific and economic context in which the school operates. Incumbent must have a commitment to educational excellence.
Required Schooling / Training
- Master degree with a major in education. Preferred a Doctorate in education, natural science, or liberal arts.
