What you'll be doing

The director of materials management is a highly visible position with responsibility to provide results driven leadership and direct management to the purchasing, manufacturing planning, shipping/receiving and inventory control functions. Establish and track meaningful departmental reports / measurements. Analyze reports, measurements and external benchmarks to identify opportunities for continuous improvement. Proactively lead the materials team to continuously improve processes and procedures. Ensure timely receipt of materials to support the development and production schedules. Deliver continuous improvement in supplier delivery, quality and cost. Be familiar with FAR and DFAR regulations. Develop process and procedures to successfully achieve/pass a certified purchasing system review. Oversee the scheduling of material demands and work order completion dates to support development and production schedules. Proactively manage material, work order exceptions and provide feedback to manufacturing, engineering and project management on critical information. Interface with project managers to establish workflow including release dates, releasing order, dates, and cash flow management. Minimize overall inventory value. Ensure accuracy of data in system including location, quantity on hand, value, etc. Create procedures and reporting for the effective management of inventory. Ensure all customer orders are appropriately packaged and shipped promptly, accurately and with all necessary documentation. Maintain all outsource manufacturing is appropriately packaged and shipped promptly, accurately and with all necessary documentation. Assist the business development department with proposal efforts. Proactively obtain industry trend data and provide timely feedback to senior leadership. Hire, train, develops and evaluates staff within functional area. Perform other duties as assigned to insure the efficiency of the company.

What your background should be

Minimum 7 years management experience in a manufacturing environment with extensive experience in purchasing, inventory, planning, supervision, and MRP systems. Strong planning, organizational, analytical, communication and networking and leadership skills are required. Exceptionally high level of commitment to the success of individuals and overall projects. Willing to put in extra effort and hours as needed. Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude. Advanced computer skills with Microsoft Office to include Excel and PowerPoint. Working knowledge of cost point (or similar MRP system). United States citizenship is required for security clearance eligibility. Current TS/SSBI is preferred. Ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SSBI is mandatory.

Required Schooling / Training

Bachelor degree an emphasis on Supply Chain, Material Management, Procurement, Six Sigma, Business or similar.
