What you'll be doing
- Performs psychiatric rehabilitation and vocational assessments and designs rehabilitation/employment plans with clients. Coordinates activities of individuals through program; provides rehabilitation services and job training to clients individually and in groups. Provides behavioral/skills training; assists clients in achieving rehabilitation goals. Orients and trains clients in the basic duties and responsibilities of assigned jobs. Consults with each client. DORS counselor and provides information, evaluation and identification of problem areas as noted at competitive work sites. Identifies potential employers, makes contact and presents program. Develops job placement opportunities. Meets all required placement and billing goals. Establishes relationships with other apporpirate community agencies in order to coordinate rehabilitation vocational efforts. Establishes and maintains working relationships with business community. Maintains up-to-date knowledge of the community, rehabilitation models, employment trends and competitive salary rates. Keeps all client authorizations and current documentation .
What your background should be
- 1 year of social/vocational services or mental health counseling. Experience in or exposure to industry and with CMI population preferred. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including verbal and written. Ability to communicate on the telephone. Ability to write, read, hears and speaks. Ability to complete tasks with numerous interruptions and under limited supervision. Compassion and respect for persons with special needs. Basic working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook; basic working knowledge of web-based activities.
Required Schooling / Training
- Bachelor degree in Social Science, Human Services or related field.
