Entry Level Accountant (Investments GAAP/STAT/TAX)

What you'll be doing

Various GAAP/statutory/tax month end/quarter end close responsibilities including posting journal entries and account analysis. Prepare, review, and analyze various reports for internal and external customers. This includes among other things, the preparation of the balance sheet, flash/trend reports, and monthly investment position reports. Prepare quarterly and year-end GAAP/statutory/tax schedules and financial statements that are utilized in the preparation of the 10-K, 10-Q, investor supplement, statutory filings, and corporate tax return. Assist with the preparation of the investment information in the GAAP and Statutory disclosures. Assist with leading or coordinating aspects of team projects, assignments and team responsibilities.

What your background should be

0-2 years of accounting experience. Access database knowledge, a plus. Direct work experience in investment accounting within the insurance industry, a plus. Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office software; Excel, Word, Access, Outlook & Project Server, SAP or other general ledger application. Ability to learn multiple applications-including database, reporting and general ledger software packages. Strong analytical and issue resolution skills. Work effectively in a team environment. Strong oral and written communication skills. Demonstrates initiative, creativity, and a high degree of self motivation. Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and work assignments. Strong organizational and time management skills, as well as the ability to meet deadlines. Strong relationship building skills both internal and external to investment operations.

Required Schooling / Training

Bachelor degree in accounting.
