What you'll be doing

Plan and implement environmental compliance programs associated with federal, state, and local rules and regulations. Work closely and proactively with internal departments and management on projects and initiatives related to the environment and air quality department. Provide federal / state / local rule and regulation review and interpretation. Supervise the environmental specialist. Develop appropriate goals & objectives, provide mentoring and technical training and perform employee performance evaluations and reviews. In addition will evaluate and oversee the environmental consultants. Conduct due diligence for new acquisitions and provide insight and recommendations to operations. Create compliance schedules, relate them to operations personnel, and coordinate associated tasks such as monitoring. Communicate regularly with field & operations staff to educate, collect data and information and provide ongoing compliance support and oversee environmental consultants. Periodically travel to each asset to perform on-site assessments and audits to review site-specific record keeping, facility equipment, operations, and maintenance processes for compliance with applicable regulations. Recommend improvements in processes, management systems, procedures, and operation equipment to comply with environmental requirements. Manage and actively prepare construction permit applications and operating permit applications. Manage greenhouse gas compliance, including determining and documenting applicability, creating GHG monitoring plans, and managing monitoring, emission calculation, recordkeeping, and reporting. Determine regulatory applicability and prepare detailed documentation. Produce routine (quarterly, semi-annual, and annual) agency reporting. Manage new source performance standard (NSPS) and national emissions standards for hazardous air pollutants (NESHAP) compliance. Negotiate with regulatory agencies, such as state, federal, and EPA region. Maintain permit and compliance files. Track agency rule-making activities, present new laws and regulations to company executives and operations personnel, prepare and implement plans to incorporate new laws and regulations into the corporate program. Submit and adhere to annual budgetary constraints.

What your background should be

5+ years of experience with the applicable environmental programs in heavy industry, preferably in the oil and gas industry. Must have strong expertise in air regulatory compliance and experience managing environmental programs preferred. 2+ years of supervisory experience preferred. Working knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local regulations. Strong interpersonal and written and verbal communication skills. Possesses a professional & friendly demeanor and has the ability to develop strong working relationships with field & operations personnel, management, regulatory agencies and consultants.

Required Schooling / Training

Bachelor degree in engineering or environmental related field
