What you'll be doing
- The technician will perform installation of the company telecommunications equipment and services located in customer locations and co-location sites throughout NYMA, with general supervision. The technician will possess basic understanding of installing company equipment, and provisioning voice and data services to customers, and generally works on assignments from facility and circuit inventory system using standard procedures, tools, and equipment. Installing equipment at customer or company sites, ensuring the integrity of power receptacles and grounding using the field installation check list; assembling, wiring, and installing electronic components supporting multiple SONET & TDM protocols such as T1, T3, OC3, OC12, OC48 and OC192; assembling, wiring, and installing electronic components supporting multiple Ethernet & IP protocols such as 10Mb, 100Mb, 1,000Mb/GigE,10Gb; assembling, wiring, and installing electronic components supporting multiple video protocols such as TV1, ASI, MPEG-2, MPEG-3, SDI, HD-SDI; connecting AC or DC power to electronic components and verifying backup power functionality; installing proper grounding of equipment isolating ground cables from power and signal cables; installing fiber or copper cabling in a quality manner ensuring cables are neat and properly secured within standard bend radius specifications. The technician will map circuits and test with service activation center; complete all testing procedures to ensure equipment and services meet company standards; label and tag all equipment, panels and jumpers with company label and circuit ID.
What your background should be
- Minimum 2 years of experience in installation, provisioning and repairing telecommunication equipment. Must have valid state driving license applicable to state law. Good written and oral communication skills. Ability to persuade and use problem solving/conflict resolution skills. Ability to operate all tools and equipment in a safe and responsible manner.
Required Schooling / Training
- Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred.
