What you'll be doing
- Health information assistant works with patient medical records using paper and electronic systems. Responsibilities may include organizing and filing medical records including charts and reports in order to compile documentation of conditions and treatments, processing and forwarding patient and physician record requests, releasing information to persons and agencies according to regulations, and assisting with departmental audits and research. What your background should be
- For an ideal applicant, 1 year experience in a medical record setting is preferred; 1 year experience in a medical office or ambulatory health setting preferred. CPR certification preferred. Effective verbal and written communication skills. Ability to follow verbal and written instructions. Basic computer skills preferred.
Required Schooling / Training
- High school graduation or equivalent; completion of a medical terminology course.
