What you'll be doing
- Assists and cares for patients in the inpatient and outpatient setting. Communicates with other members of the heatlh care team regarding patient concerns and personal observations. Demonstrates the ability to provide a full range of practical nursing care to patients with a variety of physical and behavioral problems. Under the guidance of the RN or licensed independent practitioner, orients, trains, and mentors less experienced licensed practical, nursing assistant, health technician personnel relative to care delivery within their scope. Demonstrates the ability to provide effective education to veterans, family, and other internal and external stakeholders regarding common disease processes, medications, and treatment plans as developed by the RN or LIP. Demonstrates technical proficiency in initiating, performing, and completing assigned duties in providing care to a variable and complex patient population. Serves as a responsible member of the nursing team and appropriately interact with veterans, family members, clinicians, and supportive personnel related to patient care activities and outcomes, adhering to acceptable, established customer service standards.
What your background should be
- One year of medical/surgical experience. Full, active, current and unrestricted licensure as a licensed practical or vocational nurse in a state, territory of the United States.
Required Schooling / Training
- Graduate of a school of practical or vocational nursing
