What you'll be doing

The loss control officer (LCO) is responsible for security activities including, but not limited to, corporate facility, retail/outlet stores, transportation and attended donation centers (ADC) and buildings. The LCO also assists the director to prevent and minimize accidents and liability issues at these sites. Patrol sales floor. Detect, observe, apprehend, and process shoplifters in accordance with applicable state laws and security policies/procedures. Prepare and submit shoplift arrest reports for pursuit through the civil demand process. Obtain written confessions, if possible. Research arrest reports when adequate information has not been obtained. Work with store personnel to reduce the risk of theft through awareness and close interaction including, but not limited to, security policies and procedures, inventory shrinkage reduction, and cashiering standards. Aid in training of new loss control officers. Travel to a variety of store locations to reduce the likelihood of being recognized. Perform special security duties as assigned including remote observation, interviewing, research integrity checks, document assessment, testifying in court, and undercover assignments. Includes monitoring ADC locations.

What your background should be

Previous loss prevention experience is required. Must be able to maintain a high level of confidentiality. Able to provide own transportation. Must be able to function independently in a work setting. Must be 18 years of age or older. Must have command of the English language sufficient to communicate with customers, coworkers and supervisors. Must be able to demonstrate upon request functional literacy and numeracy. Must be able to read and interpret complex guidelines and operate a computer. DPSST certified. Pass pre-employment criminal background check and drug screen.

Required Schooling / Training

High school diploma or GED is required.
