What you'll be doing
- We have an opening for a Machine Operator, who will operate different types of construction equipment such as bulldozers, dump ducks, tracked excavators, front end loaders or water trucks used to grade, move and load haul trucks. Duties and responsibilities of the Machine Operator position: - Learn and work in accordance with safety regulations. - Locate underground services (wires and pipes). - Take special actions in order to avoid obstructions or potential hazards, such as other workers, utility lines, other equipment or falling objects. - Monitor all operations in order to make sure all safety and health standards are successfully met. - Depress pedals and adjust hand wheels to control attachments, such as scrapers, blades, buckets or swing booms. - Move throttles, start engines, move switches or levels, or depress pedals in order to operate various machines (trench excavators, bulldozers, backhoes or road graders). - Coordinate machine actions with the other activities, moving or positioning loads in response to the audio or hand signals from the members of the crew. - Load and move rocks, dirt, equipment or any other materials using power cranes, trucks, shovels, crawler tractors or relevant equipment. - Drive and maneuver equipment that is equipped with blades in successive passes all over the working areas in order to remove vegetation, topsoil or rocks or to level and distribute earth.
What your background should be
- We are searching for a highly educated individual to apply for a Machine Operator position. The most successful candidate will be required to deal with the following requirements: - Follow instructions in order to meet the established standards. - Learn and work in accordance with the safety regulations. - Accurately judge slopes and distances. - Make decisions only on the basis of verifiable standards. - Ability to work in dirty and dusty surroundings. - Ability to bend, stoop and crouch, use legs, arms and hands fully. - Excellent hearing and vision. - Ability to lift up to 80 pounds with frequent carrying and lifting of various objects up to 50 pounds. - Ability to pass all the tests related to the constructions equipment operators qualification. - High School Diploma strongly desired. - From two to three years of relevant and verifiable experience.
