Machinist

What you'll be doing: Perform setup, calibration, maintenance, programming and operation on a variety of machine equipment including lathe, brake, shear, grinder, drill press, milling machine, computer numerically controller and hydraulic press to assemble and/or fabricate part and complex assembly. Read and interpret specification manual, blueprint, template and layout to determine machine operation to perform. Compute dimension and tolerance and measure and lay out work piece. Verify dimension of product for accuracy and conformance to specification using precision measure instrument such as caliper, gauge and micrometer. Troubleshoot, debug and modify to achieve expected performance. Adjust and set up machine tool for use by machine tool operator. Participate in continuous improvement of cell process. Participate in the cross train of other technician as need to support production requirement. Responsible for observe all applicable safety requirement and report immediately any unsafe practice/condition. Carry out other duty as assigned.

What your background should be: High degree of mechanical aptitude, accuracy and precision. Thorough knowledge of manufacturing, tool design, fabrication methods and processes, metallurgy and heat treating. Working knowledge of welding, hydraulics, electricity and pneumatics. Proficient in the use of precision measuring instruments and hand tools. Ability to read, understand and interpret blueprints. Strong mathematical aptitude. Working knowledge of related company instructions, company processes, rework process instructions, original equipment manufacturer manuals and MSDS labels. Working knowledge of production management computer systems and other related internal control systems. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds (unassisted) for approximately 25% of the average work day. Regularly required to stand for prolonged periods. Completion of a machinist apprenticeship program; or equivalent. Attainment of trade certification.
