What you'll be doing
- Make sure the customers are being taken care of and the department looks great at all times. Surprise and delight the customers with consistent, delightful service. Receive, unload, and put away product delivery; break down beef, pork, lamb, and poultry products. Open and close the department according to established procedures. Prepare specialty merchandise like sausage, ready-to-cook products, and cured meats. Place orders in the absence of the team leader and associate team leader. Explain cooking techniques for all meats and cuts to the customer. Maximize sales potential through effective and proper procedures for prepping, storing, rotating, and stocking product. Complete spoilage, sampling, temperature, and sweep worksheets as required. Support national, regional, and store programs. Follow and comply with all applicable health and sanitation procedures and adhere to safe work practices. Respond promptly to customer needs, and questions and requests assistance when necessary, including answering the store phone system.
What your background should be
- Meat retail experience is required. Excellent cutting skills, with ability to break beef into sub-primal; extensive knowledge of meat cuts and cooking technique; knowledge of living conditions of animals and the ability to educate the public on these issues. Demonstrated ability in knife handling and use of other cutting equipment; capable of teaching others in a constructive and positive manner; ability to communicate effectively with customers and team members. Ability to perform physical requirements of position. Ability to operate all necessary equipment. Strong organizational skills; basic computer skills. Able to prioritize efficiently; use of box cutters.
