What you'll be doing
- The medical management specialist is responsible for providing non-clinical support to the medical management or operations areas. Gather clinical information regarding case and determine appropriate area to refer or assign case (utilization management, case management, qi, med review). S/he will provide information regarding network providers or general program information when requested. Interfacing with providers and/or facilities to provide information related to cases. Incumbent may act as liaison between medical management and/or operations and internal departments. Responsibilities exclude conducting any utilization-management review activities that require interpretation of clinical information.
What your background should be
- Minimum 1 to 3 years of experience with an understanding of managed care and/or Medicare or any combination, which would provide an equivalent background. Must have strong written and verbal communication skills as well as demonstrated customer service skills and experience. Must have strong computer skills with the ability to type at least 50 wpm accurately including intermediate or higher level skills with Microsoft Office Excel and Word.
Required Schooling / Training
- High school diploma/GED required. Bachelor degree preferred.
