What you'll be doing

Assist one or more groups of physicians, advanced care practitioners, providers and clinical and non clinical staff. Ensure competent and accurate appointment scheduling while maintaining the efficient flow of all incoming calls. Provide appropriate screening, handling and routing of all incoming phone call and ensure patient messages are taken appropriately with pertinent information. Schedule various types of appointments for physicians, advanced care practitioners, and communicates any necessary instructions to the patient. Take request for refills, labs and test results. Assist with patient message call back and prescription refills. Organize, expedite and follows up on any paperwork related to patient care. Open, sort and distribute mail, correspondence, transcription, lab results and diagnostic testing as assigned. Assist with identifying and initiating necessary managed care referrals for specialist appointments, procedures or tests.

What your background should be

Medical, secretarial and customer service experience required. Minimum of 1 year in a medical office setting with experience in appointment scheduling and managing patient phone calls required. Experience as CMA, MOA or in a call center environment preferred.Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds. Must have intact senses of sight, hearing and touch. Must be able to speak and articulate clearly.

Required Schooling / Training

High school diploma or GED required. Associates degree in healthcare related field preferred.
