What you'll be doing

Perform comprehensive histories and physical exams, identify normal and abnormal findings, including physical, cognitive and psychosocial status. Order, perform and interpret screening and diagnostic procedures and tests, and appropriately communicate and document information. Develop pharmaceutical and non-pharmaceutical treatment plans.Monitor effectiveness of plan of care. Educate patients on disease and treatment plans. Perform procedures as trained and appropriately credentialed. Document within the electronic medical record and completes other necessary documents. Collaborate and consult with physicians and other health care providers as appropriate. Educate, counsel, and assist patients and families regarding current health problems, health maintenance activities and preventive behaviors. Evaluate patients and render care, within the scope of practice outlined by state statute, in the inpatient, outpatient and diagnostic lab setting. Write admission, discharge, transfer, medication and other orders as required for the management of patient care, as directed by a physician. Acquire information on the most current developments and trends in the physician assistant field, through educational programs, in-services, professional associations and literature. Participate in quality assurance activities and clinical trials.

What your background should be

Advance practice nurse prescriber license. Certification as advance practice nurse ACLS and CPR certification. Preference will be given to practitioners with prior experience in hospital based care and medical/surgical patients.
