What you'll be doing

The Nursing Manager assumes twenty four hour accountability for all functions of his/her assigned units within the medical surgical department, under the general supervision of the nursing director. In collaboration with the nursing director, the Nursing Manager is responsible for the ongoing assessment of the quality of patient care services provided in the department by all levels of practitioners. The Nursing Manager assists with developing and implementing performance initiatives to ensure optimal patient outcomes and customer satisfaction. The Nursing Manager models patient centered care in concert with the company values of integrity, compassion, accountability, respect and excellence. Demonstrates the ability to focus and guide others in accomplishing work objectives. Ensures a safe environment and promotes a sense of competency and professionalism. Provides a role model for staff in the delivery of seamless quality family centered care throughout the health-illness continuum. Actively participates and leads initiatives to improve patient and hospital operations. Delegates appropriately by entrusting responsibility and authority to others. Assumes administrator on-call responsibilities. Assists the Director in settings goals and objectives and development of an implementation system to reach those goals. Facilitates the implementation of unit /department plans and programs. Collaborates with medical staff, executives, hospital leaders, and hospital staff to implement actions to achieve goals. Provides progress reports regarding achievement of goals.

What your background should be

Three years clinical practice in specialty area is required. Minimum of one year leadership and management experience, preferably at a manager level; will consider supervisor and charge nurse experience. Experience may be substituted for part of the education requirement as appropriate.

Required Schooling / Training

Bachelor degree in Nursing required. Prefer masters degree.
