What you'll be doing

Responsible for overall safety of mill personnel and security of mill assets by conducting periodic safety discussions, enforcing safety rules/policies, supporting safety goals, and conducting accident investigations. Contributes to a safe working environment for all personnel by identifying and correcting hazards, conducting risk assessments, reviews of equipment isolation and lock-out procedures and by adhering to all mill policies and procedures. Ensure that housekeeping and 5S standards are maintained by performing periodic inspections and holding employees accountable. Maintains quality that meets or exceeds customer expectations by producing products that are within manufacturing guidelines. Manages the overall operation and crews in order to maximize production, efficiency, and environmental compliance by effective use of resources. Gives direction to the shift supervisors that will be expected to establish performance measures, monitors inputs/outputs, and implements action plans for optimized production and overall continuous improvement. Coordinates activities by scheduling work assignments, setting priorities, and directing the work of subordinate employees. Maintains records, prepares reports, and composes correspondence relative to the work. Ensures all rules, regulations, policies, procedures and administrative practices are followed consistently. Responsible for communication and teamwork within the assigned area as well as to other areas as needed. Identifies staff development and training needs and ensures that training is obtained. Contributes to the development of both operators and site trades groups skills and knowledge, by providing assessment, job training and input into development and delivery of training. Plans and conducts in-service training for employees. Evaluates and verifies employee performance through the review of completed work assignments and work techniques. Ensures proper labor relations and conditions of employment are maintained. Occasionally may performs the duties of a higher level supervisor in a relief basis.

What your background should be

5 years related experience.

Required Schooling / Training

High school diploma required. BS in engineering or other related field of study preferred.
