Paraeducator-Teaching Assistant

What you'll be doing: Under supervision of a teacher, prepare for classroom activities. Work with small groups of students to reinforce material initially introduced by teacher. Assist teachers in providing instructional modifications and accommodations for students with special needs. Assist individual students in need of special attention. Guide independent study, enrichment work, and remedial work set up by teacher. Assist teacher with non-instructional classroom duties. Assist teacher in devising special strategies for reinforcing material or skills based on a sympathetic understanding of individual students, their needs, interests, and abilities. Serve as a source of information and help for substitute teachers assigned in the absence of the regular teacher. Alert the regular teacher to any problem or provide special information about an individual student. Maintain the same high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about students as is expected of fully licensed teacher. Participate in in-service training programs, as assigned. Participate in monthly staff meetings. Other duties deemed necessary by the administration for the effective operation of the school and the welfare of the students.
