What you'll be doing

The organization is looking for a creative person with a solid understanding of cooking and baking basics. The pastry cook assists the pastry chef in producing quality desserts and pastries for all dining rooms across the community. Responsible for preparing quality desserts and pastries per standardized recipes. Plan food production to coordinate with meal serving hours and determines amount and type of food and supplies required for daily menus. Ensure that excellence, quality, temperature and appearance of food are preserved. Follow all safety procedures when handling kitchen equipment and complies with department sanitation standards and personal hygiene/uniform standards. Perform other duties as required and assigned.

What your background should be

Minimum three years of experience as a pastry cook or baker in a hotel, resort, restaurant, club or similar institution. Ability to plan and organize work, to interpret instructions, recipes, specifications and standards. Knowledge of kitchen equipment operations and maintenance. Knowledge of nutrition and diet.

Required Schooling / Training

Culinary education preferred.
