What you'll be doing

Directs the activity of the transport function and transporters, ensuring timely completion of tasks; monitors procedures related to availability and completion task, follows up on issues related to service and operations. Exhibits excellent telephone etiquette and listening skills. Ensures accurate and timely dispatches of transport requests; ensures maximum staff productivities. Maintains a safe, healthy, orderly and pleasant work environments for staffs; ensures dispatch equipment is safe and in good, cleans working condition; provides and maintains adequate levels of supplies and equipments. Understands and applies knowledge of basic patient transport concepts, infections control practices and proper body mechanics. Understands and is able to determine, explains and develops dispatcher logics and transporter activities; acts as a transporter when necessary. Ensures proper operation of company hardwares, software programs, pages and phone handling systems; is able to troubleshoot and works with information systems. Ensures requests have been completed in an efficient and timely manner according to current departmental standards, priorities and patient appointments. Develops and promotes positive effective customer service relations with patients, patient family members, visitors and staffs. Resolves problems related to patients, visitors, staffs or employee complaints; resolves problems associated with patient transport services; recommends and participates in the solution of on going problems or trends. Acts as a positive role model; possesses integrity, focus, commitment, flexibility, diplomacy and a team spirit.

What your background should be

Preferred dispatcher, transport or hospital experience. Effective organizational skills necessary to plan, organize, coordinate and direct the activities of transport requests and associates productivity. Service or quality mentality and attitude. Basic computer skills utilizing a Windows based operating system: ability to troubleshoot system problems related to computer or software systems and initiate internal or external resolution to system issues. Ability to maintain composure under pressure. Analytical ability to constantly evaluate task and personnel status; interpret demand and response times in accordance with patient acuity and personnel availability.
