What you'll be doing

Maintains proper and complete patient profile record (including height, weight, and allergies), in order to ensure the accurate administration of medications and IV solutions pursuant to a valid physician order in accordance with hospital policies and procedures. Demonstrates knowledge of the levels of growth, development, and skills for various age populations (premature infant to 18yrs of age). Accurately interprets records and dispenses medications on a daily basis from physician orders onto the patient medication profile. Appropriately intervenes for drug allergies, potential drug interactions, and duplication of therapy 100% of the time, as documented in patient medication profile. Effectively communicates with medical staff to recommend an alternative drug regimen for all drugs, which are not on formulary, per department formulary policy. Searches basic drug information resources (print & automated). Drug information and recommendations provided to physicians, nurses, and other health care professionals. Information, insights, and drug-related issues shared with other pharmacists. Provides specialty consult as assigned in a timely, accurate and consistent manner. Calculates pharmacokinetic parameters and communicate recommendations (or orders if privileged for consults). All intravenous medications converted to the oral route whenever possible and appropriate for the patient. Clinical interventions consistently documented in a standard format. Manages pharmacy technicians effectively to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the satellite or zone. Promotes teamwork by giving direction and assistance to co-workers when necessary. Monitors for accuracy of all technician work on a daily basis. Effectively works with all members of the healthcare team to ensure the best outcome for the patient.

What your background should be

Able to work with solvents, acids, corrosives, and carcinogenic/mutagenic drug products. Completion of an ASHP hospital pharmacy residency. Current registration with Florida State board of pharmacy as a registered pharmacist.

Required Schooling / Training

PharmD or equivalent education /experience (B.S. Pharmacy or clinically oriented Masters in Pharmacy.)
