What you'll be doing

Coordinates staffing and clinical services and assists with strategic planning for the care center. S/he assists with teammate evaluations and professional development goals for clinical staff pharmacists. The candidate ensures strategic planning and successful implementation of pharmacy initiatives. S/he complies in all activities with accreditation, legal, regulatory, and safety requirements for a specific practice setting. Coordinates, oversees, and participates in direct patient care activity to include clinical services and order entry. Applicant assists with teammate evaluations and professional development plans for pharmacists practicing in the care center. Designs and delivers in-service education for physicians, nurses, technicians, and other healthcare professionals regarding drug therapy issues. Incumbent retrieves clinical information for monitoring and review of the medication use process. Provides concise, applicable, timely literature based responses to requests for drug information from healthcare providers and patients. S/he uses effective patient education techniques to provide counseling and education to patients and caregivers. Develops written clinical information to provide medication related information to healthcare providers. S/he provides accurate shift-to-shift communication regarding unsolved situations requiring future action. This position demonstrates working knowledge of departmental equipment. Candidate alerts pharmacy materials coordinator or manager concerning drug shortages and problems. The role assists in the acquisition of non-formulary, compassionate use, and investigational medications. Prepares and dispenses medication using appropriate techniques, assures completeness and appropriateness of the order before distribution. The pharmacist performs other duties as assigned.

What your background should be

Licensure by North Carolina board of pharmacy and two years as a clinical pharmacist with involvement in formulary development, drug use evaluation, and quality assurance activities required.

Required Schooling / Training

Doctor of pharmacy from an accredited college of pharmacy, clinical pharmacy residency or equivalent experience required.
