What you'll be doing

Demonstrates knowledge of subject area they are teaching, including prerequisite relationships, and content-related pedagogy; age appropriate approaches to learning, skills, knowledge, interests and cultural heritage. Selects instructional goals for value, clarity, balance, and suitability to diverse learners. Demonstrates knowledge of resources necessary for teaching subject material for all students. Designs coherent instruction with learning activities varied instructional materials and resources to use with different instructional groups. Develops lesson/unit plans that are clear and allow for different learning styles according to student needs. Assesses student learning congruent with instructional goals. Develops a clear criteria for assessment of student work which includes planning for future growth. Creates a climate of respect and rapport in the classroom. Establishes a culture for learning while effectively managing classroom procedures and student behavior. Demonstrates the ability to organize physical space in the classroom that is both safe and accessible to learning. Communicates clearly and accurately by using different questioning and discussion techniques. Engages students in learning and provide positive feedback to students by being flexible and responsive to the students needs. Demonstrates professionalism by reflection on teaching for use in future teaching experiences. Prepares and maintains accurate records for students, local and state administration. Communicates effectively with families, and other members of the school community. Demonstrates professional growth by continuing education and service to students and the learning community.

What your background should be

Three (3) years of verified contracted teaching experience and the ability to obtain a valid teaching license in Nevada. Knowledge of child development; behavior and characteristics of students; subject area and/or credential area of teaching. (e.g. special education, math, science, etc.); effective teaching skills; planning and organizing; supervision and control; assessment and diagnosis; interpersonal relations. Creating an effective environment for learning, establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with teachers, administrators, counselors, and other staff members. Also the ability to establish and maintain standard of pupil behavior needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in the classroom.
