What you'll be doing
- This is regular or special detail police work in protecting life and property on the college campus. Work involves professional response to the need for the prevention and detection of crimes, and for generally maintaining law and order. Work also involves patrolling assigned area, traffic enforcement, accident reporting, and criminal investigations. Assignments are received from superior officers and are carried out under established policies and procedures. However, employee must exercise quick, independent, and sound judgment and display initiative in applying work methods to emergency situations which arise when superior officers are not immediately available. Work requires dedication to public service often made difficult by emotional or physical stress of events. Work is reviewed through conferences, written reports, inspections and observation of results obtained. Campus police officers must pass a physical exam and are subject to applicable drug and alcohol testing policies.
What your background should be
- Minimum two years of experience is required; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Must be able to successfully qualify with the service weapon (initially and annually), a valid Georgia driving license with an acceptable driving record, and may be required to successfully pass a physical abilities test prior to the final offer of employment.
Required Schooling / Training
- High school diploma or GED is required for this position.
