Principal Scientist
Where
- Cambridge, MA
What you'll be doing
- The qualified candidate will become a principal scientist for a government research contract working within global biotherapeutic technologies as a member of a team that is developing a novel technology for the production of biologics in vivo. This individual will become a key contributor to the development and manufacture of synthetic RNA for use in nanotechnology. Work closely with other scientists who are co-developing complementing aspects of this technology to produce nanoparticles as therapeutics. Design and execute on in vivo screening paradigms to test novel nucleic acid constructions. Participate in key program decisions and work closely with the prinicpal investigator throughout the term of the agreement. The key responsibility for this role is to contribute to the development and manufacture of synthetic RNA for encapsulation in nanoparticles. Knowledge of RNA synthesis, manufacturing to scale and purification technologies. Knowledge of the enzymes used in the manufacture of RNA in vitro. Further understanding of nanoparticle technology and its application for the advancement of biologic therapies. The successful candidate will be required to integrate technical knowledge with formulation specialists for a range of in vivo applications. Create a leadership profile within research by establishing the best practices for evolving a new technology. Approximately 70% lab based work.
What your background should be
- 5-10 years of industrial experience. Knowledge of RNA synthesis, manufacturing scale, purification and characterization; animal models and the design of experiments for the assessment biologics, e.g. nanoparticles, carrying nucleic acid cargo is essential. Knowledge of in vitro RNA synthesis, biochemistry, nanoparticle formulation for in vivo delivery; nucleic acids structure, and methods of mRNA synthesis by in vitro methods; enzymology and analytical skills for nucleic acid assessment. Experience in the manufacture, characterization and purification of RNA. Familiarity with RNA formuation in nanoparticles. This position requires 70% laboratory work at the bench in RNA generation, as well as working with and characterizing reagents and enzymes that are used for its synthesis. Preparing RNA at small and large scales as well as evaluating product purity and quality. Contribute to formulation improvements and generate samples for outsourced animal studies. Familiarity with nanoparticle formulation for mRNA delivery. Facility with nucleic acid purification technologies, HPLC chromatography, etc.
