What you'll be doing
- Program Coordinator will establish rapport with reflections unit residents and their families and is primary contact for those families within the center. As part of the interdisciplinary team, develops approaches/interventions to meet the psychosocial needs of resident. Collaborates with activities director on the activity calendar, care plan and approaches/staff interventions. Develops and implements special events and presentations, both in house and to promote the unit in the community. Develops and maintains connections in the community with organizations that support dementia care and community outreach. Responsible for the efficient and profitable operation of the specialty unit. Participates in development of budgets and ensures budget levels are not exceeded. Provides both classroom and on floor training, directions and guidance for unit staff. Participate in the hiring, orientation and evaluation of unit staff.
What your background should be
- This position required two years of experience in long term care environment that included persons with dementia; one year in management, experience in training others. Minimum of sixteen hours of dementia training. Verbal skills adequate to communicate effectively with residents, families and community members. Ability to participate in public speaking opportunities, to educate/inform the community of offered programs and services. Written communication skills sufficient to convey care plan interventions, develop notifications to families, responsible parties, etc in a professional manner. Skilled in directing and motivating the workforce. Ability to organize and prioritize to meet deadlines. Comfortable in marketing program elements to community and performing community outreach. Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS), licensed social worker, (National Certification Council of Activity Professionals) certified Activity Director or a certified dementia care practitioner preferred; LPN or RN considered.
Required Schooling / Training
- Bachelor degree or Master degree in Recreation Therapy, Social Work, Occupational Therapy, Health Care Administration.
