What you'll be doing

Receive print ready files, analyzing and verifying conformance with identified specifications and manufacturing methods. Operate and maintain digital proofing devices and equipment in a multi shift environment. Perform quality checks on proofs before releasing to production and perform standard maintenance checks of the devices to ensure standard output. Utilize computer hardware and software from multiple platforms and output devices. Review and understand instructions and job tickets to assure attainment of all job specifications and expected results. Analyze and process digital images and other files generated into the manufacturing system according to department procedures, achieving the output requirements and customer specifications. Operate and perform standard checks of output devices. Evaluate digital proofs for correctness and quality. Communicate job information to other team members as required. Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.

What your background should be

Knowledge of prepress, design and printing including familiarity with layout, trim, bleed safety and an understanding of the ripping process. Knowledge of the adobe suite (Photoshop, in design, acrobat, illustrator), quark express and Microsoft office software applications. Color management skills and the ability to work with different digital file formats are required. Must have the ability to output digital files to various output devices. Must have the ability to continue to learn and use new graphics software on an ongoing basis. Must be able to diagnose and troubleshoot minor problems with proofing devices. Make have good communication skills to verbally discuss workflow and process issues with supervisors and vendors. Ability to identify inconsistencies in any given publication or document. Good judgment skills and the ability to work unsupervised. Must have completed apprentice program in Graphics/Prepress or have equivalent education.

Required Schooling / Training

High School graduate or equivalent.
