What you'll be doing

Regional Trainer is responsible for plans, organizes, develops and presents, etc., professional development programs for the RPDP that support literacy for the region. This includes providing literacy leadership training in the developmental stages of literacy (phonemic awareness, phonics, vocabulary, fluency, comprehension & motivation) and best practices for teaching fundamental writing and reading skills, training educators in effective methods for delivering standards-based (Common Core State Standards) instruction in the areas of literacy; training educators in the assessment of student achievement in literacy; contributing as a team member toward the development of instructional training programs for the Regional Professional Development Program in support of literacy; evaluating, revising and refining the instructional training programs and delivery systems; assisting teachers in developing student assessments and in using data from standardized assessments to make instructional decisions and providing follow-up assistance as needed.

What your background should be

This position required certificated employee by Carson, Churchill, Douglas, Lyon, or Storey, counties with at least three (3) years of post-probationary teaching experience in these counties including instruction of reading and language arts or any equivalent combination of experience and training, which provides the knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the work. Shows evidence of participation in professional development, (e.g., graduate level studies, continuing education studies, in-service classes, conferences, etc.) Experience in teaching professional development activities for adults (e.g. in-service classes, conference presentations, university classes, etc.). Communicates enthusiasm and a strong commitment to literacy instruction for K-6 students; ability to obtain, a valid State of Nevada driver license with a driving record acceptable to the district; possession of a valid Nevada teaching license.

Required Schooling / Training

Master Degree from an accredited college or university
