What you'll be doing

The postpartum RN provides direct nursing care in accordance with established policies, procedures, and protocols of the healthcare organization. The candidate assesses plans and evaluates patient care needs, carries out physician orders. S/he administers prescribed medications, changes dressings, and monitors vital signs. S/he provides post-anesthesia recovery care for the patient. Assesses and fosters patient-infant bonding. Serves as the primary coordinator of all disciplines for well-coordinated patient care and coordinates patient discharge planning needs with members of the healthcare team. Monitors, records and communicates patient condition as appropriate utilizing computerized documentation systems. Instructs and educates patients and families. The applicant provides age and culturally appropriate care. Orients and mentors new staff members. The incumbent follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.

What your background should be

The candidate should have current license as an RN, current certification as a BLS healthcare provider and NRP. Must have an ADN-BSN is preferred. The applicant must have a minimum of 1 to 3 years of experience in specialized area in an acute care hospital environment. S/he should have customer service abilities including effective listening skills, critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment. The incumbent should have the ability to perform work that requires frequent physical movements.

Required Schooling / Training

Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing.
