What you'll be doing
- Support research and development of novel polymer-based materials for automotive applications, focused on improved sustainability. Set up and run experiments to optimize process parameters and material formulations. Assess developmental and commercial polymers, plastics, and composites: mechanical properties, thermal analyses, crystallization, rheology, processing, durability, fatigue, and chemical resistance. Use LCA as a tool for assessing sustainability improvements for new materials and systems. Interface with internal (product development, material engineering) and external stakeholders (material and tier suppliers) to transfer technologies to vehicle applications.
What your background should be
- Understanding of polymer stress-strain behavior, rate and temperature dependence. Laboratory experience and hands-on testing/analysis a must. Strong team player with record of collaboration. Excellent problem solving skills. Ability to multitask. Experience in polymer processing (extrusion, compounding, injection molding), polyurethane foam formulation and processing. Previous experience with automotive industry and/or sustainable materials. Self-motivated and enthusiastic with excellent communication skills.

- Bachelor of science degree
