What you'll be doing
- Will assist in extramurally funded research with the goal of identifying key elements of mechanisms of acute lung injury. Will be expected to perform meticulous laboratory procedures involving animals. Duties include: primary cell isolation and culture. Isolation of RNA and protein from animal tissues and cells. Molecular biology methods such as PCR, immunoassays (ELISA), western immunoblots, RNA isolation, cloning. Maintenance of complete laboratory records using exacting regulatory methods and participation in lab meetings. Complex data set analysis and integration using spreadsheet, statistical, and graphical software. Development and testing of new laboratory methods to meet changing needs. Maintenance and preparation of laboratory supplies.
What your background should be
- Experience with molecular biology methods. Proficiency with desktop computers including spreadsheet, statistical, and graphical software. Strong organizational and communication skills. Ability to manage diverse tasks. Flexibility in work hours, and a commitment to excellence. Must be comfortable working with animals. Experience with cell culture and cloning, advanced degree in biological sciences.
Required Schooling / Training
- Bachelor degree in biology or related field and at least one year experience in a research laboratory.
