What you'll be doing

Supervise a paraprofessional staff. Fulfill duty requirements, counsel residents on behavior that violates college policies. Respond to all residence halls when needed. Oversee the safety and security of residents and the residence halls. Complete essential administrative duties. Support and implement programming model and philosophy by planning, organizing, and directing student activities and programs within the residence hall. Interpret and explain community standards, residence hall policies, expectations, and regulations to individual students and groups in the residence halls. Become acquainted with residents in order to facilitate referrals to appropriate academic and/or administrative departments. Provide appropriate counseling to students and make appropriate referrals. Serve as a hearing officer for conduct matters concerning students residing in the residence halls. Supervise and establish performance goals for resident assistants in the building. Conduct weekly supervisory meetings, monthly staff development sessions. Evaluate paraprofessional staff. Assist the paraprofessional staff in dealing with student concerns. Recruit and select residence life staff. Develop and present pre-semester training and staff in-service training for paraprofessional staff. Attend professional training workshops provided by housing and residence Life. Attend related conferences.

What your background should be

3 or more years post-baccalaureate experience in residence life/housing or student affairs with live-in post-baccalaureate/professional experience. On call experience. Student staff supervision. Ability to lift and carry heavy objects up to 15 lbs. Experience in assessment and conduct hearings. Required a valid driving license.

Required Schooling / Training

Required minimum bachelor degree and masters degree in higher education is preferred
