What you'll be doing
- The shipping and receiving clerk performs activities related to receiving, including receipt of raw materials, components or equipment, checks incoming materials against bills of lading, packing slips, etc., verifying nomenclature, identification and quantity of the materials. The incumbent will be responsible for inventory control, maintaining accurate inventory, tracking and reporting inventory using a materials management computer system and reporting any discrepancies. Maintain necessary files and documentation. Typical shipping activities include: checking goods against shipping documents and authorizations, packing goods for shipment according to specifications, preparing bills of lading, posting weight and shipping charges and attaching information and shipping instructions onto packages.
What your background should be
- 3+ years of experience in shipping and receiving including familiarity with usage of materials management computer system and knowledge of inventory control in a manufacturing environment. Requires skill to perform clerical tasks such as maintain records of goods received and damaged goods, maintain files and documents related to shipping and receiving.
