What you'll be doing
- Perform a variety of clerical and manual tasks involved in maintaining inventory control and shipments to include shipping, receiving, verifying, storing, and preparing appropriate documents. These positions provide administrative, accounting, and clerical support for location operations. Examine contents and compare with records, such as manifests, invoices, or orders, to verify accuracy of incoming or outgoing shipment. Manage the movement of equipment/materials in or out of the country in accordance with organizational policy and procedure, and to comply with relevant local, country and international law and process. Prepare documents, such as work orders, bills of lading, and shipping orders to route materials. Retrieves, sorts, and distributes mail. Determine shipping method for materials, using knowledge of shipping procedures, routes, and rates. Record shipment data, such as weight, charges, space availability, and damages and discrepancies, for reporting, accounting, and record keeping purposes. Contact carrier representative to make arrangements and to issue instructions for shipping and delivery of materials. Confer and correspond with establishment representatives to rectify problems, such as damages, shortages, and nonconformance to specifications. Requisition and store shipping materials and supplies to maintain inventory of stock. Compute amounts, such as space available, and shipping, storage, and demurrage charges, using calculator or price list. Pack, seal, label, and affix postage to prepare materials for shipping, using work devices such as hand tools, and power tools. Perform clerical, accounting or administrative duties as assigned or needed to support department operations.
What your background should be
- At least two years of shipping experience is required. Must possess a valid driving license and skilled in the use of a forklift. Knowledge of purchasing and inventory policies and procedures. Skill in establishing priorities and organizing work. Good computer skills and experience with Timberline and Microsoft applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint). Skill in public and interpersonal relations. Skill in oral and written communication. Knowledge of modern office practices and procedures. Knowledge of generally accepted accounting procedures. Skill in decision making and handling confidential matters. Skill in compiling information and preparing reports. Skill in operating office equipment such as a multi-line phone, calculator, copier, facsimile and scanner machine.
Required Schooling / Training
- High school or equivalent diploma.
