What you'll be doing

This is an exciting opportunity for an energetic, entrepreneurial culinary professional who is constantly seeking a better way to conduct business. This hand on leadership position is directly responsible for the successful operation of the culinary department in organization. The sous chef will assist in supervising the preparation and cooking of various food items, developing daily menu items and their preparation and garnishment. Candidate may be responsible for supervising hourly kitchen employees. Assist with employee training and scheduling of hourly cooks and hourly staff. The successful person may assist in monitoring payroll costs and overtime and will support the culinary direction of the chef and adhere to all brand standards. Manage the department scheduling, discipline, and hiring. S/he may work with the executive chef or chef in developing new menus and recipes and may be involved with ordering. The sous chef will usually report directly to the executive chef or chef.

What your background should be

The candidate should have related experience. Comprehensive knowledge of food and catering trends with a focus on quality, production, sanitation, food cost controls, and presentation. Must be experienced with computers; to include Microsoft office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint), Outlook, e-mail and the internet. Must be willing to participate in patient satisfaction programs and activities.

Required Schooling / Training

Associate in occupational studies (A.O.S) degree in culinary arts.
