What you'll be doing

Special education teachers will work with students who have a wide range of learning, mental, emotional, and physical disabilities. Teachers adapt general education lessons and teach various subjects, such as reading, writing, and math, to students with mild and moderate disabilities. They also teach basic skills, such as literacy and communication techniques, to students with severe disabilities.

What your background should be

Must have excellent communication skills. Able to work with students in one-on-one and group settings, understanding the abilities and needs of each child. Good computer skills for detailed record-keeping of each students progress. Special education teachers must be encouraging, creative and flexible

Bachelors Degree
