What you'll be doing

The SQL Server Database Administrator is responsible for providing database design solutions to clients across all business areas in the company. Responsibilities include: Design, build, test, deploy and develop quality database solutions for new projects consistent with project objectives and client requirements, and follow technology architecture standards. Create all database objects from design to implementation. Design and implement database solutions/processes that maximize system availability, efficiency/ effectiveness and minimize/prevent problems/ issues. Updating database systems by reviewing, planning, testing and installing database security patches and service packs. Working with development and systems teams to perform application and database tuning. Review of physical and logical database design; promote the reliability of database design by ensuring appropriate referential data integrity is implemented and appropriate data types are used. Create processes and procedures for application code and database object migrations to support an efficient and reliable system development lifecycle. Create new database objects like tables, procedures, functions, indexes and views using T-SQL in development and production environment. Tuning queries which are running slow using profiler and statistics by using different methods in terms of evaluating joins, indexes, updating statistics and code modifications. Prepare documentation for the disaster recovery plan. Work with transparent encryption, table compression, and database compression and merge statements using SQL server 2008. Extract Transform Load (ETL) development using SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS).

What your background should be

Must have 8+ years SQL Server DBA working experience. MS MCDBA certification a plus. Experience in supporting SQL Server in a replication and also clustered environment. Knowledgeable on different versions MS SQL Server (2000, 2005 and 2008) as well as Windows Operating systems. Experience with SSIS, SSRS and SSAS. Good understanding of shell scripting and transact SQL scripting language. Understanding of high availability and disaster recovery requirements and solutions. Ability to maintain a positive attitude while working with high demands and short deadlines. Ability to prioritize heavy workload with minimum supervision. Must have excellent communications and interpersonal skills. Ability to work well with development teams in doing database design, changes and enhancement to new and existing applications. Strong organizational and analytical skills. Highly adaptable with ability to work in a fast paced demanding environment.

Required Schooling / Training

Degree or diploma in computer science or equivalent.
