What you'll be doing
- Responsible to lead a logistics development team for the maximization of inbound logistics freight income to meet AOP targets and support logistics/supply chain initiatives. Lead the conversion of vendor delivered freight to company managed loads to drive case and revenue growth. This includes running reports to identify opportunities, analyzing the requirements and economics to convert cases and dollars, working with procurement and other internal functions to make conversions and optimization happen, obtaining division approval and updating the system to execute implementation. Achieve freight income targets for the divisions and company. Includes income targets, minimizing cost, maximizing freight revenue and increasing volume of managed cases through profitable conversions. Freight income, managed case percentage, margins, utilization, productivity, service performance etc. Ensure KPI are monitored daily, weekly, monthly or quarterly as required and put in plans for corrective action where targeted results are not being achieved. Review results with corporate and division level management. Act as the change agent in the field for implementation on new logistics initiatives. Work with stakeholders at division and region levels to ensure smooth implementation of all logistics processes. Work with operations group to ensure successful follow through of converted loads to execution. Work with buyers to ensure loads stay managed and profitable. Work with operations to execute conversion of backhaul opportunities. Review and monitor costing elements within the BH template. Work with multiple parties in the company to achieve AOP targets. Look for new opportunities with the local operating divisions markets that would include working with 3rd party regional shippers and suppliers that currently utilize 3rd party carriers. Develop relationships between these parties and the operating division within that area to provide additional freight income opportunities utilizing private fleet.
What your background should be
- Minimum 7 years of purchasing, and/or related work in transportation field required. Prior experience working in a large fast paced foodservice purchasing and/or logistics environment strongly desired. Experience in tactical project management and in depth knowledge of logistics conversion function required. Must be able to manage successful relationships with the operating divisions.
