What you'll be doing
- Assists healthcare providers in identifying and resolving issues related to incomplete or missing chart documentation, ambiguous or none specific documentation or codes that do not conform to regulatory guidelines or HCPNV internal controls. Educates and advises staff on proper code selection, documentation, procedures and requirements; identifies training needs; prepares training materials and conducts coaching and training as appropriate for clinic staff, physicians, NPs and other staff to improve the quality of the diagnosis documentation and accuracy of the collection and coding of members health data. He/she also provides support to HCC Coding Manager in the development and implementation of policies and procedures.
What your background should be
- Must have a minimum of 5 to 7 years coding experience. Successful completion of a coding certificate program. CPC, CPC H from AAPC or CCS P, CCS from AHIMA. (Current maintenance of continuing education/membership is required). Excellent organization and problem solving skills required. Strong oral and written communication skills required. Advanced understanding of medical terminology, pharmacology, body systems/anatomy, physiology and concepts of disease processes. Extensive knowledge of ICD 9 CM coding guidelines; with knowledge and demonstrated. Understanding of CMS HCC Risk Adjustment coding and data validation requirements. Valid driving license required. Local travel required. Ability to demonstrate advanced Excel, MS Word and PowerPoint skills.
Required Schooling / Training
- High school diploma or equivalent degree required. Bachelor degree in related field preferred; and/or relevant equivalent and relevant work experience preferred.
