What you'll be doing
- The Equipment/Studio Manager maintains and manages the use of film and video equipment, actively works as a team with film/video staff (including the Associate Director and Staff Associate) to manage and maintain film studios, and assists faculty, staff and students in use of technical equipment, including individual and in class demonstrations. Candidate works with film/video faculty and staff to ensure proper requisition and purchasing of equipment and the scheduling of facilities in order to facilitate studio curriculum. The Studio Manager supervised by the Sr. Associate VP for academic planning and Support, and may supervise monitors, work-study students or graduate assistants. Manage all film and video equipment for checkout to students and faculty. Operate and manage databases for equipment checkout and inventory, maintains and coordinates repair of film and video equipment. Support faculty, film/video staff and students with equipment needs, in class demonstrations, media rentals and visiting artists programs. Ensure that film facilities are in proper working condition for classes and public screenings and that studio outfitted with appropriate equipment and materials at all times. Work with faculty and staff to requisition, receive and store all supplies and materials for classes and other program activities. Monitor proper health and safety procedures related to all equipment and materials. Other duties as assigned.
What your background should be
- Organizational and managerial skills necessary to work as part of a team, working knowledge of 16mm film production and digital media technologies used in film and video production and post production. A positive attitude towards assisting others and the ability to share expertise and information. Ability to stay current in the field of film and video and to obtain new skills using new technologies, use and maintain equipment and software, lighting and green screen studios and grip equipment; analog and digital sound devices for sync and field recording; 16mm cameras: Bolex Rex 5, Arri-S, Arri-BL, and Arri SR2, and 16mm projectors. Familiar with database management. Ability to lift 50 to 100 lbs., reach overhead and climb ladders. Experience working with equipment check out and inventory and working in a media arts-related environment.
