What you'll be doing
- Responsible for the overall management, staffing, organization and development of a business unit. Responsible for identifying complex fund issues and managing the delivery of services to clients, including meeting all regulatory deadlines. Plan and monitor tax department activities and provide review and guidance in regards to the preparation of partner level income allocations in accordance with code section 704(c), annual security tax adjustments and allocation of adjustment to partners capital accounts, monthly reconciliation of income allocated and partner capital balances between transfer agency, fund accounting and partnership systems, form 1065, schedules k-1s and all applicable state filings, and NRA distributive shares for foreign partners upon redemption and at taxable year. During peak cycles, provide review and guidance in regards to the preparation of fiscal and excise tax provisions including complete and accurate disclosures for financial statement purposes as well as verifying the accuracy of proposed excise and subchapter distributions, federal (forms 1120ric, 8613 and other applicable filings) and state tax returns and year-end shareholder information in accordance with IRS timetables. Monitor federal and state tax law changes by referencing resources such as CCH and becoming involved in outside tax committees.
What your background should be
- Minimum 5 to 10 years of experience in the mutual funds industry, with a minimum of 3 to 7 years in tax. Exceptional leadership and staff development skills with prior team management experience. Should have strong organizational skills ideally with project and program management experience and a demonstrated track record of project delivery. Advanced analytical skills with the ability to anticipate issues and aggressively drive initiatives to achieve results. Strong technical understanding of the investment industry including a strong knowledge of SEC and IRS regulations and rules and GAAP accounting standards. CPA preferred.
