What you'll be doing

Provide leadership and supervision to the billing department staff in concert with the company vision and mission to meet business objectives and customer expectations. Lead by example, maintain a professional demeanor, strong work ethic, and actively support company and department goals. Demonstrate sound critical decision making skills. Proactive problem-solver, establish appropriate record keeping and reports. Develop and maintain appropriate quality control measures for all assigned billing processes. Regularly monitor individual and team performance to ensure high levels of productivity and accuracy. Ensure timely completion of group reports. Schedule department staff in accordance with department guidelines and in a manner that achieves adequate coverage to maintain workflow and meet month-end-closing deadlines. Track time and attendance of direct reports accurately and utilize established company methods and protocols. Conduct orientation and training of new hires on department policies and job specific skills. Evaluate readiness of trainees to assume full job responsibilities. Coach, counsel and provide feedback to direct reports. Enable staff to obtain new skills and continue their professional development. Perform other duties, orientation and annual reviews as assigned.

What your background should be

Must possess thorough and up-to-date knowledge of health care billing and reimbursement processes. Previous experience in medical billing on computerized systems. Familiar with ICD-9 and CPT coding. One year of supervisory experience desired and/or demonstrated advancement in positions of increasing responsibility and accountability. Possesses front-line responsibility and staff management of assigned teams, while supporting other department work groups.

Required Schooling / Training

HS degree or equivalent required, post-secondary education preferred.
