What you'll be doing

Assists the translife recovery staff in the recovery of all tissues such as bone, tendons, dura, skin, veins, pericardium, heart valves and any other tissues that can be utilized for transplantation in accordance with policy and procedures of the tissue recovery services. Assists the coordinator in transporting equipment and supplies, inventory of recovery supplies and ensuring the recovery site meets AATB standards. Performs tissue recovery, preservation and bioburden testing procedures as detailed in the policies and procedures of the department. Keeps current on existing policies and procedures of the tissue bank related to recovery of tissue. Reports on time to designated area when called to participate in a tissue. Attends the Quarterly Per Diem meetings. Works to promote and participate in a team approach with other staff members

What your background should be

Knowledge of operating room set-up, sterile technique, prepping, draping, and surgical instrumentation. Ability to work collaboratively with team members. Strong organizational and time management skills. Certified surgical technician or 1 year hospital/clinical experience. Anatomy and physiology (preferred). Physical assessment skills (preferred). Previous tissue recovery experience (preferred). Licensure, certification, or registration required: Certified tissue bank specialist (CTBS) certification (preferred).
